How to prepare for a flooring estimate
An estimate is only as accurate as the information behind it. Here is what makes the biggest difference before we visit — or before you send a pre-estimate request with photos.

Know the rough square footage
You do not need exact numbers; we confirm measurements on site. But knowing roughly how many square feet are involved, and which rooms are included, moves the conversation forward immediately.
Closets, hallways and stair treads are easy to forget and they do affect the scope.
Photograph what is there now
Photos of the existing floor, transitions, thresholds, baseboards and any damaged or uneven areas tell us most of what we need about prep and removal.

- Close-up of the existing floor surface and seams
- Thresholds where the floor meets tile, carpet or exterior doors
- Any cracks, dips, stains or previously patched sections
- Stairs, if they are part of the project
Gather building requirements
If you are in a condo or an HOA community, ask management for the modification or renovation requirements before the estimate. Approved work hours, insurance certificates, elevator procedures and any sound rating for the underlayment all affect the plan and the schedule.
Decide what is in scope
Old floor removal and haul-away, furniture moving, baseboard replacement, appliance disconnection and stairs can all be included — but they need to be named. Tell us what you want handled and what you will take care of yourself.
Questions worth asking
Ask what installation method is being recommended and why, what happens if the slab needs more prep than expected, how long the work will take, and what the space needs to look like on day one.
